Edinburgh Prayer Watch is a new vision and it carries with it much of what went before. Each day is now broken into four "prayer watches" (night, morning, afternoon, evening). Instead of taking a set hour each week, each person can choose a weekly "watch" and take any hour during that watch to pray. The praying is guided by a weekly email bulletin which seeks to highlight the current week's pressing prayer issues. This bulletin is put together by the EPW coordinators.
Each week they receive information from a wide variety of sources, such as Church leaders, people in business, other prayer groups and organisations, such as the Parliamentary Prayer for Scotland group and Scripture Union. This information is then prayed over and summarized in a bulletin format to be sent out.
Our desire is to see informed, united and persistent prayer rising from many people in the body of Christ. We are always interested in what's going on "out there" in the different sectors of the city, be it in churches, the business world, schools, government, etc. We rely on the input of others and encourage our prayer watchers to feedback to us information or insights they have. None of us has the whole picture, but working together we begin to get a better picture of what's happening and how the Lord is moving to bring His Kingdom into our beautiful city.
